Take 5 Oil Change

The transformation of the former Shrimp Basket location into a Take 5 Oil Change service facility was a streamlined yet detailed demolition and site development project. Located at 7756 Crestwood Blvd, Irondale, AL, this project was an essential part of revitalizing a busy commercial area with new infrastructure.

Scope of Work:

1. Demolition and Salvage:
   The project began with the careful salvage of usable items from the old restaurant building, including the walk-in freezer and other valuable materials. Once salvaging was complete, we demolished the entire structure, including the building, parking lots, driveways, and any trees or shrubs on site. This allowed us to create a clean slate for the new development.

2. Erosion Control and Site Preparation:
   As with all of our projects, erosion control measures were a priority and were installed immediately and maintained throughout the project's duration to ensure environmental protection and compliance. Following demolition, we focused on removing unsuitable soils to ensure a stable foundation for future development.

3. Grading and Storm Sewer Installation:
   After the soil removal, we imported and placed engineered fill, which was graded to the necessary specifications for the building pad and surrounding parking areas. Finally, we installed a new storm sewer system to ensure proper drainage for the site, completing the groundwork for the Take 5 Oil Change facility.

Challenges and Successes:

This project, though relatively straightforward, required attention to detail, particularly during the salvage and soil removal phases. Ensuring that we maximized the value of salvaged materials while maintaining strict timelines for the demolition was key.
