The Bibb County High School redevelopment project was a carefully coordinated demolition initiative, focused on removing outdated facilities to pave the way for new construction. This project was critical for the school’s plans to upgrade its infrastructure while ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing educational activities.

Scope of Work:

1. Asbestos Abatement:
   The project involved asbestos abatement and the demolition of several key structures, including the former main school building, cafeteria, gymnasium, and various classrooms.

2. Demolition:

   We initiated abatement procedures and began demolishing the main building while the school was in session, ensuring all work was conducted safely and without disrupting ongoing classes.

3. Holiday Break Execution:
   With students still occupying the gymnasium building for classes until the winter break, our team had to execute a phased demolition plan. Once the school break commenced, we swiftly shifted focus to the gymnasium and remaining structures. Working diligently through the holiday season, we completed all demolition and site clearance tasks before the students returned, adhering strictly to the tight timeline imposed by the school calendar.

Challenges

This project’s primary challenge was ensuring that demolition activities did not disrupt the educational environment. With students still attending classes during the initial phase, noise and dust had to be meticulously controlled. We employed noise reducing and wet demolition methods to maintain a dust-free and quiet atmosphere conducive to learning.

Additionally, the logistics of material export presented another layer of complexity due to the site's remote location. To address this, we optimized our truck load capacity by segregating materials efficiently, maximizing each trip and reducing the overall number of hauls needed.
